I am back in Malaysia

February 12, 2008

I am back in Malaysia on the 28th of February. Most of you are following up with my blog so here it is … I am back. It’s great to be back, that was almost like one Chinese New Year, 3 photo sessions and 4 girls ago. Nevermind, it’s nice to see most of you and let the shoots begin!

It suddenly got cold here in Vietnam. According to my colleagues, this condition is supposed to happen 2 months ago but the weather postponed itself to about few days ago. It’s below 20 degree Celcius in the morning, slightly higher in the afternoon and gets even colder at night. Slight drizzles anytime of the day make things worst with strong wind blowing makes cycling around the outside of the factory a pretty challenging thing to do!

Thank God there’s enough to eat (and drink) around here and food is not a problem. Small restaurants made from family homes make looking for food dificult for untrained eyes, unless they have proper signage. Drinking holes for beer guzzlers are aplenty, you can just sit down somewhere and ask for a bottle of beer, or two, or three, or the whole damn carton of 20 bottles for Rm30(!), asking for a jug of draft beer will set you back by about Rm3+ and it’s good if you’re alone and wanna just head home after a good drink. The only entertainment here is the dumb box called the television. Radio reception is bad but thank God it’s not so for celllular phones, HT Mobile and Viettel is active here with full bar, so is Digi roaming phones.

As many of you (girls) already know, I’ll be back in June, which day I can’t tell coz I might be making a ’slow’ trip back: maybe a trip to the popular Na Trang beachside before I head to Ho Chi Minch. Too bad my flight back was pre-booked as an open one or else I could make a trip to Cambodia first before I come back to KL. Anyhow, (I consider) it’s not too long before June comes so … catch you guys (and girls) soon!

I am currently working in Vietnam with a Malaysian car assembly company, the factory is located at Tuy Hua (pronounced as ‘Tui Hua’) in the province of Puh Yen (pronounced as ‘Fuyin’ by them). It’s a very small town but the actual site of the factory is about 15km from town, Tui Hua town that is. It’s like people say they work in KL but the place is actually in Shah Alam.

The Place

My workplace is actually within the factory compound surrounded by padi field, sugar cane and banana plantation over the hills. It’s actually built AROUND the padi field so it’s basically surrounded by lush green of padi plantation and they turn yellow when it ready to be plucked out and turned into rice.

The banana plantation gives out quite abit of harvest as traders try to sell them to us early in the morning and late in the afternoon. They harvest twice a day, unlike here where people work for awhile and then sleep the rest of the day away. Over here, work is money and money is work, people work when the sun rises and only stops when the sun sets. In KL, people is still on the road jamming in the morning and leaves the office later to meet the jam again! No wonder people can DIE from stress!

Being 15km from Tuy Hua town, this place is more like a village with a huge piece of land where the factory is. I travelled about 2 minutes into another village nearby to buy my necessities and found out that they have almost a dozen brand of bathing soap, 8 brands of mosquito coils and they actually have Pantene for Men, check it out! And they have another brand I long time no hear jor … Brylcreem. Still remember that brand guys? Maybe you remember Code 10, but not Brylcreem.

They have tailors at the village that will help mend the hole in your pants or shirt or dress but dun expect 1 Hour Service because the lady might wanna watch TV while she still need to mend other people’s clothings, take your turn. Over at the corner an old man will shine your shoe for Rm0.20+ per pair, that’s VND1,000. It’s a good chop coz the Vietnamese hardly shine their shoes, so he is chopping foreigners mostly, hmm.

Gonna get my haircut soon. I heard it’s only VND15,000 which is about Rm3.00+ for a haircut, wash, shave and have your ears cleaned. Yes, all for Rm2.00.

A lot of people are asking me this, here are my answer :

Q : What are you doing in Vietnam?

A : I am working.

Q : Working as ?

A : IT Manager, but lotsa other things which makes my job even more exciting!

Q : You work until when?

A : As long as I want. I can decide.

Q : When you coming back?

A : Dunno. My BOSS will decide (LOL!)

Commenting on my Pics

November 5, 2007

I have received couple of PMs in regards to why I wouldn’ allow comments in my photos. Well, I dun need comments not becoz I am lazy to reply or becoz I think ‘they’re perfect’ like few photographers already bluntly put it. There’s no need for anyone to say anything about them becoz they’re not there for you to say anything, that’s all.

I dun really have an explanation about all this and I dun think I need to explain. Why on earth do I have to say all this? After all, they’re there means they’re there. If anyone is interested in taking similiar photos and applying similiar style to their own photos they can PM me anytime for a photo session, that’s all.

Some people were pretty pricked by the fact that they can’t C&C (Comment and Critic) on my work. Well guys … they’re not for you to C&C and I am not interested in C&Cs, enough said.

"Wah Anthony you’re so egoistic"

Me egoistic? Hey, you feeeeeeeel like saying something? Feeeeeeel like you wanna comment on that green tint or feeeeeeeee like saying something about that slight discolouring on that shodowy area or the fact that I didn’t focus on the eye or cut off the finger or foot?

Dun waste my time, you got more important things to do.

Dear Friends,

I will be starting a Photo Schedule update in my Friendster page, reason for doing is becoz I am getting old (OMG haha!) and I need to be constantly reminded of my model/event shooting days (model shoots mostly).

I am currently working during weekdays so forget about weekday shoots unless it’s a Selangor or National Public Holiday. Should you require a slot for a photo shoot let me know ASAP and I will update my schedule. This schedule is made public so you will be able to see which weekend I am free and which weekend I am not.

In any case, dun be shy to message me and ask.

Thanks :)

Anthony.

p/s : Other photographers can do the same after me … Anthony is always the FIRST, haha!

The Canon in D Major is the most famous piece of music by Johann Pachelbel (1653 - 1706), didn’t know he lived THAT long ago-leh … the song was written around 1680s during the Baroque period for three violins and basso continuo but has since been arranged for many types of ensembles. It is well known for its chord progression which has become one of the most used in popular music today.

The piece is commonly played at weddings (my cousin’s for one) and is commonly present in classical music compilation CDs with other famous Baroque pieces.

The canon is played over ground bass violins. In the beginning, the first violin plays the first two bars of the canon’s melody. The second violin enters with the beginning of the melody while the first violin continues with the next two bars. Then the third violin commences the canon while the second violin plays the third and fourth bars and the first violin continues with the fifth and sixth. The three violin  follow one another at two bars’ distance until the end of the piece.

A very unique piece indeed!

Feelings

April 22, 2007

Feelings by Albert Morris

Feelings, nothing more than feelings,
trying to forget my feelings of love.
Teardrops rolling down on my face,
trying to forget my feelings of love.

Feelings, for all my life I’ll feel it.
I wish I’ve never met you, girl; you’ll never come again.

      Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
wo-o-o, feel you again in my arms.

Feelings, feelings like I’ve never lost you
and feelings like I’ve never have you again in my heart.

Feelings, for all my life I’ll feel it.
I wish I’ve never met you, girl; you’ll never come again.

Feelings, feelings like I’ve never lost you
and feelings like I’ve never have you again in my life.

      Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
wo-o-o, feelings again in my arms.
      Feelings…(repeat & fade)
